Blueberries galore!

At this time of year, blueberries are seemingly overflowing from the supermarket shelves so it was fortunate timing that the TWD pick this week was Dorie's Double Crusted Blueberry Pie. Now I've made pies many times before but I've generally stuck to apple pies, so this was a chance to try something different. Besides, M absolutely loves blueberries.

Since baking the scrumptious TWD treats every week has taken a toll on my waistline, I decided to make just one fourth of the recipe and make an individual portion of this pie. Sure it was a lot of work to make just one serving of this but not having to sit around and resist a barely eaten 9 inch pie made it worthwhile!

I was skeptical about using bread crumbs to line the inside of the pie crust as I was worried that this would make the filling too "doughy" but I have to say that you really don't notice it in the taste and it definitely helps keep the base of the crust from getting too soggy. A good trick for future pie-making endeavours.

M and I shared the pie for dessert on Sunday night, and needless to say, we licked the bowl clean.

Your individual pie looks great! This was the first recipe for which I didn't reduce the servings. I ended up being happy to have a full pie...it's great.

I love your individual pie! I am going to need to cut my recipes too!

What a perfect serving size for two - I never used to cut recipes down, but I think TWD is forcing me to!

I love your little pie. The single pic is making me wish I had shown a little more constraint with my post. Also with my waistline. I can't believe the way butter is flying out of my fridge. YOu were smart.

Those are gorgeous! I was also thinking about cutting down the serving size by making "hand pies," or little pocket pies.

Your pie looks great! I made 1/4 of a pie too. I really liked trying a blueberry pie too as something different from the usual pie.

Boy that sure is cute! Wish I would have cut the recipe--that crust was too much for me to handle!

You are much smarter than me! I too have been feeling the tightening of my waistband since joining TWD. I need portion control! Your pie is perfect.

I also find I'm often needing to downsize the TWD and DB selections... to avoid outsizing my wardrobe. Great job on your mini pie!

These individual servings are both really cute and so personal. There's nothing like giving someone their very own pie. In my family it would more like "yes, that's all you get"...

Dorie's recipes never seem to go wrong.

Good job!!

I made two 4,5 inch pies and I gave one away, but it was still too much! I didn't resist either, I had a slice for lunch today!

Oh, I'll testify to what Dorie does to the waistline. Must learn the Way of the Mini. ;)

An individual pie is such a great idea! I probably would have done the same thing if I wasn't bringing it to a party. Your minipie looks great by the way! The crust looks really flaky.

I love the idea of an individual pie. I always struggle with sweets and end up taking a "diet" slice of something.
